On September 2, 2013, the 9DF engine of Shanghai Diesel was approved by Volvo Bus and became the first domestic engine to be equipped with Volvo buses.
As a high-end passenger car brand, Volvo Buses has only been equipped with imported engines. The Shanghai Chai 9DF engine successfully passed its audit and became an optional engine. It stated that Volvo recognized that the model has better reliability, fuel economy and emission performance.
Volvo's insiders revealed to reporters that before the Shanghai Diesel 9DF engine was successfully assembled a SAIC-VW joint venture between SAIC Motor and Volvo, and demonstrated a good overall performance. The 9DF engine received a high evaluation from the company, and it also left a good impression on Volvo's foreign personnel.
Since June, Volvo has sent a number of foreign experts to the Shangchai factory to conduct a comprehensive review of the engine's development process, quality assurance system, production process and after-sales service system. Made a one-by-one inspection, and finally announced in September to successfully pass the Volvo audit. The 9DF engine will be the first domestically produced engine to be approved and matched by Volvo.
