Non-Inflatable Tire Hankook Tire Demonstrates Future Tire Technology

Hankook Tire presented three future concept tires such as its electric vehicle non -inflatable tires (NPT) and sponsored the latest tire design results from the University of Cincinnati's “The Way to the Future” to show its debut in the future tire technology and R&D capabilities.

In order to meet the demand for tires for future new energy green concept vehicles such as electric, hydrogen, and hybrid vehicles, Hankook Tire developed the first non-inflatable concept tire (NPT) in 2012. Through comprehensive material innovation, NPT has made special breakthroughs in safety and environmental protection. The weight of the vehicle is borne by the air pressure. NPT not only solves the burden on the owner to confirm the tire pressure at any time, but also avoids the traffic accident caused by the insufficient tire pressure during the driving process, and the safety is greatly improved. In addition, NPT simplifies the manufacturing process, which is conducive to energy conservation, reduction of harmful substances, and more in line with environmental protection requirements. The application of hollow reinforcement materials and the reduction of tire weight can effectively reduce the rolling resistance. According to actual tests, NPT can reduce the rolling resistance of vehicles by more than 5%.
