GE Energy has signed a contract with French power engineering company Cegelec in Brittany, France, to supply the French Navy with a complete set of static power solutions. The solution will use GE's advanced static frequency converter (SFC) technology to provide the French Navy's vessels with extremely high conversion efficiency and safe, reliable grid power transmission when docked. In order to ensure the rapid and timely charging of military ships, the French Navy needs a reliable and stable power supply. GE 's variable frequency technology enables efficient and safe energy transfer.
The French public power grid is 50 Hz . When transmitting to warships, power system conversion must be used, and different conversions are required according to different warship types. GE 's power solutions have a very low harmonic rating and ensure a high level of power quality. In addition to supplying electrical equipment, GE 's power conversion business unit will also be responsible for equipment design, commissioning, testing and training, and GE's local service team in France will provide support when needed.
