According to the Ministry of Commerce on September 23, FAW Bus Company decided to produce a passenger vehicle in Changchun. According to FAW's development plan, by 2013, its total vehicle sales volume will reach 15,000, of which 3,000 will be exported, and the market share will be 5.76%, ranking fifth in the domestic industry. According to the planning arrangement, the Changchun base will have to do more than 8 meters of chassis for passenger trains, aiming at the same industry level to cut in 6 to 8 meters of products, and become China's first-class chassis for passenger cars. It is reported that the company's road series vehicles were put into production in 2009.
The related person in charge of the FAW Bus Company stated that the company will establish a vehicle base in Changchun and plans to start construction in April 2009 and start production in December. At present, the production process of the vehicle base has been determined. It is planned to produce urban passenger car products, such as 12-meter-long cars or 18-meter-long cars.
