Cooper Tire U.S. plant invests $9 million to expand production

Cooper Pacific Tire and Rubber Co., Ltd. recently announced that Cooper will invest US$9 million in the Tupelo Plant in Mississippi, USA, and expand its recruitment of 35 employees to increase tire production and capacity utilization.

In 2009, Cooper Tire announced that it invested 7 million US dollars to expand 32,000 square feet in the Tupelo plant, and created 150 jobs.

Cooper announced the closure of the Albany plant in Georgia in the United States in 2009 and transferred the production of the plant to the remaining three plants, including the Tupelo plant.

Gray Swoope, executive director of the Mississippi State Development Committee, said: "The Cooper Tire is one of the big companies in northern Mississippi. I am very happy that Cooper Tire has continued to expand its production.

Pat Jodon, Cooper Tupelo plant manager, said: "After the expansion, our factory will be able to produce more complex tire designs to meet different tire requirements and promote the development of Cooper tires."
