China's first giant evaporative cooling unit completes 72-hour test run

On the 22nd, it was learned from China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. that China's first giant evaporative cooling generator unit had successfully completed the 72-hour test run at the Three Gorges Water Control Project on the Yangtze River.

According to reports, this unit numbered No. 28 is located in the underground power station of the Three Gorges Project. It is currently the highest degree of localization of the Three Gorges Project, and is also the first giant evaporative cooling unit with the largest single capacity in the world. It is manufactured by Dongfang Motor Factory. The stator winding normal temperature self-circulation evaporation cooling technology has completely independent intellectual property rights. Previously, the Three Gorges unit was water-cooled and air-cooled.

The staff of the underground power station of the Three Gorges Project said that this generator set entered the final assembly construction in September of this year. It was commissioned for the first time in November and was commissioned for water filling. After that, a grid connection test was conducted. During the 72-hour trial run of the unit, the constructor and the factory worked together. The staff conducted monitoring screens and trend analysis, and mastered various parameters and indicators during unit commissioning. A series of tests showed that the parameters and parameters of Unit 28 reached the established requirements.

It is reported that after successfully passing the 72-hour trial operation, Unit 28 will be handed over to the grid for power generation on a daily basis, and will become the fourth generating unit of the Three Gorges Underground Power Station after it is put into operation. By then, the number of 700,000 kilowatts of the Three Gorges Power Station will reach 30, and the total installed capacity will reach 21.10 million kilowatts (26 sets of 700,000 kilowatts for the left and right shore power stations, 4 sets of 700,000 kilowatts for the underground power stations, and two sets of power station). In addition, the last two units of the Three Gorges Underground Power Station are also under intense installation and commissioning, and they plan to put into full production before 2012.
